Favourite Vocalists

Postby 7daycrisis on Thu Oct 25, 2007 6:05 pm

So i've been getting into singing alot, and started taking lessons and all. And I'd have to say my favourite is the guy from incubus (Dont even know his god damn name) because of how easily he can hit the higher notes and how pure his voice sounds when he does.

Who's your favourite singer and why?

Well...

Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom) Has an amazing vocal range and can do many vocal 'effects' without using any special audio equipment.

Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi) Would have to be one of my all-time favourite female vocalists, awesome voice and she sounds perfect live.

Max Illidge (40 Below Summer) Has such a distinct and unique voice that I thought was more than one person singing when I first heard him for some reason, lol.

Damn, there are alot of vocalists out there, I admire pretty much every vocalist from every band I listen to in some way or another.

Mike Patton - Does this guy even need justifying?

Benji Webbe - His voice and style perfectly compliments Skindreds music.

James Hetfield - The instantly recognisable voice of rock!
One of the advantages of horses that people sometimes point out, is that they very seldom explode. Almost never, in my experience, apart from that unfortunate occurence in the hot summer a few years ago.

Nah mate, it's the other way around.

God wishes he was Mike Patton

Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, seriously he can hit the high notes like no other,id swear he's a eunech or something.

Also Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth for the sheer diversity his singing has.

Mike Patton looks just like Henry Rollins, they should hang out or something.

And that guy from Incubus is Brandon Boyd, I think.

Anyway, my favorites are probably Keith Morris, Iggy Pop, Rollins, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Mark Arm (real similar voice to Iggy's), Richard Hell, and Joey Ramone.

Mikael Åkerfeldt (of Opeth)
Iggy Pop
Glenn Danzig (Misfits, Samhain, Danzig)
Keith Morris (Black Flag, Circle Jerks)
Karl (of Suicide City)
Otep Shamaya (of Otep)
Johnny Rotten/Lydon
Johnny Thunders
Argyle Goolsby (of Gorgeous Frankenstein and Blitzkid)
Hirosuke (of Balzac)
Morgan Lander (Kittie)
Joanna Newsom
Kim Deal ( The Amps, The Breeders, The Pixies)
Chi Pig (SNFU)

They are my favorites because I absolutley love their voices. The Bold names are the two main influences on me starting to sing.

+1

It's awesome the way he can go from a beautiful soft croon, to an all out throat shredding "wtf?" style!

Tommy from Between the Buried and Me. Its amazing how he has these crazy screams and growls, yet he has the most elegant clean singing voice. It blows me away when I hear songs such as Backwards Marathon.
