So, whats your favourite?
Why?
Etc!

And more personalised points
I just started IX again a few days ago, I'm about 4 hours in, in Lindblum (I'm terribly thorough sometimes on FF games, I've taken forever searching everywhere) and I'm still in love with this game after however many years

Also I was wondering, what's FFXI like? I'm intrigued by it and really wouldn't mind some opinions as to whether I should get it or not :)

Discuss!

Personally, I like VII the best.

Probably because it was the first FF I played, and I get completely wrapped up in the whole story, the characters, everything!

I still remember the first time I got out of Midgar and thought "WTF? I've been playing there for like 6 hours, and there's a whole world of this?"

Just the whole scope and scale of the thing astounded me!

I also really like VIII.

The junctioning system didn't prove all that popular I don't think, but I thought it was a fantastically delicate system, that allowed for a complete and thorough party customisation!

IX's pretty good too, I liked the return to the retro stylings of yore, and the story was once again brilliant. My favourite part of IX was the diverse range of characters involved in the storyline. Although Kuja always felt like a rehased attempt at Sephiroth for my liking!

Also, I'd just like to add a little something to this thread:

What do people think of the Final Fantasy movies?

The Spirits Within
Advent Children
Lost Order (or is it last? I forget)

With the exception of Spirits Within (which doesn't really feel like a Final Fantasy, although it is quite a good film), I think they add a real extra something to the Final Fantasy universe!

Sorry for the wall of text! :)

One of the advantages of horses that people sometimes point out, is that they very seldom explode. Almost never, in my experience, apart from that unfortunate occurence in the hot summer a few years ago.

I clicked submit instead of preview when I wanted to use some of the tags.

*Hangs head in shame*

Yeah, I think I played IX first, it must be down to that!! And yeah, I've forgotten a lot of VIII, definitely one I need to give a thorough re-playing too!

I've only seen Spirits Within, which yeah, was good but kind of irrelevant, I really do want to see Advent Children though, I might do a naughty thing and download it, it'll be a while before I have money :(

I'm fairly sure you can pick Advent Children up in something like a 2 for £10 offer on DVD at HMV.....

Something like that anyways!

VIII's definitely worth a rerun through. In fact, pretty much every FF is. I always find that the games open up more and more with pretty much every run through!

Yeah, but I don't have £10....I'm literally ALWAYS skint

And yeah, they are, although I often get a bit miffed at how slow they get into things second time around, I KNOW the story, I KNOW the controls, and it can take upto two hours just to escape that 'nannying' phase where it tells you how to do everything

That's very true. I think that FFVII was the worst for that. I think they could easily have gotten around it by having a "Training" option ono the menu (the New Game or Load menu that is, not in-game) or something....

Or people could just read the damn booklet!

And you have my sympathies with the skintness!

:D

Yeah, FFIX did a decent job of it, since a lot of the training goes through the Mogster, who you can ignore :)

And thanks, I've been searching for a job for ages but no luck :(

Yeah, that was pretty cool... I really liked the "MogNet" bit of FFIX....

Stupid Moogles, it's not a very effective way of delivering mail now is it?

"Lets all give it to Zidane and hope he's going in the right direction"

Haha aye, it can be quite interesting though, if anything it's just another little thing to take your mind off the fact you're still on Disc 1 of FOUR!??! haha

I like the card game too, Tetra Master, a very fun addition to the game

I personally preferred the FFVIII one. I think it was called Triple Triad?

I remember once played Cid, just after he and Edea (now not an insane sorceress) have returned to the orphanage, after the battle between the Gardens, and losing my best few cards, getting extremely annoyed, and changing all my cards into items with a moments frustration.

Time til I regretted my decision? about 0.39854 seconds.

:(

Yeah, if you don't remember it, you really REALLY need to revisit it, and let its warming touch embrace you!

(How gay did that sound? :D)

That's not worse at all. Quite frankly it's understandable!

I'd offer some advice about FFXI...... only I've never played it. In fact, I've never played those MMORPG games, where you pay full whack for the game, and then have to pay a monthly fee for the privilege of playing it. Always seemed a bit of a rip off to me!

Thats why I want some input first, although I really like the idea of it, considering I'm usually skint it would require a lot to maintain...
