i started guitar in april, and i sort of been playing on and off (not actually learning much), and hadn't played for over a month cause of exams.

started again saturday, learnt the rest of smells like teen spirit (and my first solo :)) cause i had only learnt the main riff.
got heaps of free time for three months (no school now, till uni) so hopefully i can get much better then.

Fingers crossed eh?

You'll definitely improve if you spend more time playing, it goes without saying!

What's on your "List to Learn"?

Also, on the topic of instruments. I restrung my bass a few days ago, with some sweet peacock blue strings that cost me about £60. The goddamn G snapped first time I played it. :(

Now I've got a 5-string (check the pics of instruments thread) with 4 blue strings and a standard grey one.

:(
One of the advantages of horses that people sometimes point out, is that they very seldom explode. Almost never, in my experience, apart from that unfortunate occurence in the hot summer a few years ago.

i was thinking of learning all of nirvana's nevermind first up, to get my fingers working and that.
after that might start learning some music theory, some other techniques etc.

im not sure whether its worth upgrading my amp cause my $30 no name amp sounds dead, so is not particularly inviting to play. i think i should really change my strings as well cause i havent ever changed them. i dont know what size they are either.

ive got blisters on my left hand from playing on the weekend, havent played guitar since, cause i went to the beach today.
im not holding the pick that well either cause im sometimes scraping my middle finger (like between the nail and first joint) across the strings (i hold the pick with 3 fingers, i find it the most comfortable)

Cool, the best way to get started I think is to learn so of the simpler songs by badns you know.

That way when you can do them, it gives you a confidence boost to try harder things!

Sucks about the blisters though. Fortunately I don't have that problem on either hand anymore!

:)

pringa dont hold a pick with three fingers, trust me i did it for 2 years and it really doesnt help especially for alternate picking as it really limits speed.

yea...i def prefer 2 fingers...but some people do prefer 3, although i don't really know why, it's very limiting. especially if you wanna pick with the pick and ur fingers at the same time (which i call chicken picking...i dunno if there is a more common name for it...)

Right now I play a crummy LP knockoff, but for christmas I will be getting (hopefully) a new Gibson SG. Along with that a Vox AD30vt.

I play guitar. I have been playing guitar for 3 years and I have a Yamaha EG 112. I'm getting a new guitar for Christmas but I'm not sure which one I want yet.
