Want To Become A Mod? - Apply Here!

Postby scarr3d on Thu Nov 22, 2007 3:27 pm

So you want to be a mod, here's the place to find out how. Just follow these few simple steps and I'll see what I can do:

- Firstly, you need to know which forums you would like to moderate. It can be a big job, but at the moment it's ok with not many members. Certain forums will need more attention and people to moderate, but there will be a limit to the number of moderators per forum. That limit is 4 (Four) Also, the limit of forums that you will be able to moderate is also 4 (Four).

When you make your decision, please try to make sure that you have some knowledge and/or experience in whatever the forum topic is, for example, knowing nothing about Music but wanting to help moderate the Music forum will get you nowhere. I personally won't be able to tell if you're lying or not, but try to be honest.

- Secondly, you must have at least 1 positive karma at the time of applying. It doesn't matter if you have more, that won't give you any higher chance, just as long as it's higher (+) than 0.

- Thirdly, and maybe most importantly, you need to be online quite frequently, and the more the better.

- Fourthly, Follow the next few instructions as best as you can and I'll be very happy.

Now if you do this the way I've told you to it shouldn't be a problem.

The template below is what you have to fill in and PM to me, copy it perfectly, not the -'s, just the writing between them and don't alter it in any way:
----------------
Username:
Real Name:

Interests:

Forums:

1 -
2 -
3 -
4 -

Post Count:

MSN Messenger:
(Preferred)

Password Strength:

Any Other Notes:

-------------------

Here's what it all means:

Username: Your Username, simple.

Real Name: Your real name, only has to be first name but whatever you prefer.

Interests: A few of your interests, doesn't have to relate to the forums you wish to moderate, but it's helpful.

Forums: The forums you want to moderate, you don't have to specify all 4, but it is in priority, so if you say Cars as 1st, that will most likely be the one that you'll get assigned to, then the second one is second preference, etc.

Post Count: Your post count at the time of writing this (Located under your username in the forums).

MSN Messenger: If you use MSN, I'd like to add you just in case. You don't have to give it to me if you don't like, and if you choose not to, it won't give you any less chance.

Password Strength: This is for your account password, do not give it to me! I don't know, and don't want to know your passwords, but I'd like to know it's 'strength'. By strength I mean how hard it would be for someone to guess.

To figure this out, do the following: For every letter (A, B, C etc) in your password, give yourself 2 points. For every number (1, 2, 3 etc) give yourself 1 point. And for every symbol (#, $, + etc) give yourself 3 points. Then after you have that number, multiply it by the number of characters in your password and paste the answer. Simple? Here's an example to help you:

Say my password was b@con23 we get 8 points for the letters, 2 for the numbers and 3 for the symbol, giving us 13 in total, multpilied by 7 gives us 104. That's your password strength.

I will not accept anyone with a password strength under 50 as it will be too easy for someone to guess.

Any Other Notes: Any additional things you'd like to mention, do so here. Begging won't do anything.

Quick question:

When will applicants find out if they have been successful?
One of the advantages of horses that people sometimes point out, is that they very seldom explode. Almost never, in my experience, apart from that unfortunate occurence in the hot summer a few years ago.

You forgot the question mark. And I can't stay out of trouble, that's why I'm going to be an asshole in this post.

but anyways........

You have to capitalize the b in but, and you only need three period's at the most.

Capitalize the j in just, the i in I, the i in I again, and you need a period at the end.
